1. Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a contract between you and Stepsie ("Stepsie", "we", "us") covering your use of the Stepsie iOS application and the stepsie.app website (together, the "Service"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use the Service.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum digital-consent age in your region) and able to form a binding contract. If Apple's App Store terms require a higher age for your region, those apply.

3. What Stepsie is (and isn't)

Stepsie shields apps you choose and grants access based on your physical activity. It is a productivity and habit tool. It is not a medical device and provides no medical advice. Consult a physician before changing your exercise habits, and use common sense: don't walk into traffic to earn Instagram minutes.

4. Your account

• Accounts are created with Sign in with Apple.
• You're responsible for activity on your account and for keeping your device secure.
• One account per person; accounts are not transferable.

5. Subscriptions and purchases

Stepsie offers optional paid subscriptions (e.g., faster earn rates and premium features). All purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account:

• Subscriptions auto-renew until cancelled in your App Store settings, at least 24 hours before the period ends.
• Pricing is shown in the app before purchase and may vary by region.
• Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple's policies; we can't issue them directly.
• Earned minutes, streaks, and other in-app balances have no cash value and can't be sold or exchanged.

6. Fair play

The leaderboard is only fun if steps are real. You agree not to falsify activity data (shaking your phone like a maraca, GPS spoofing, injecting HealthKit samples, or similar creativity). We may recalculate, reset, or restrict accounts with manifestly implausible activity. We'd rather you just went for a walk.

7. Acceptable use

• Don't break, probe, or overload the Service.
• Don't reverse engineer the app except where the law says we can't stop you.
• Don't use offensive display names or harass other users through any social feature.
• Don't use the Service to violate any law.

8. Your content and our IP

You keep whatever rights you have in content you submit (like a display name). You grant us a license to use it to operate the Service (e.g., showing your name on a friend's leaderboard). The Service itself, including its design, code, and branding, is ours and protected by intellectual-property laws.

9. Third-party services

The Service depends on Apple technologies (HealthKit, Screen Time, the App Store) and cloud infrastructure. Their availability is outside our control, and their own terms apply to your use of them.

10. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We don't warrant that shields are unbreakable, that step counting is perfectly accurate, or that the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.

11. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Stepsie will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or lost profits or data. Our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of $50 or the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

12. Termination

You can stop using the Service and delete your account at any time in the app. We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. Sections that by their nature should survive (8, 10, 11) survive termination.

13. Changes

We may update these Terms as the Service evolves. For material changes we'll notify you in the app before they take effect; continuing to use the Service after that means you accept the new Terms.

14. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the state in which Stepsie is organized, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
